Hey, want to go camping in the Winter? Are you crazy?” Sweating, struggling and swearing under a 100lb backpack during the day, and then shivering in a tiny cramped tent? We can change your mind! Using traditional techniques with a little bit of modern flair, winter can be the most comfortable season to camp in Ontario. We’re not joking.

Our Overnight Adventure is the best way to be introduced to Winter Camping in Ontario. We travel by snowshoe, hauling everything behind us on toboggans.

Absolutely nothing is carried on our backs. In the evenings, everyone will retreat to our large canvas ‘hot tent’.  Inside, we cook all our meals, and dry our clothes by the heat of a wood burning stove.  Even at -20 degrees outside we can relax in our Pajama’s by the heat of the stove inside the tent.

Over the course of this 2-day trip we will travel over lakes, creeks, portages trails, beaver ponds and see Algonquin in a way that not many people get to experience!  This is a trip for beginners, the distances are short, with the importance of educating and having as much fun as possible.   A great way to learn about winter camping with a canvas tent and a wood stove and seeing that it is possible to camp comfortably all year-round.

Our guides will contact our guests via email prior to the start of your trip. This is the perfect opportunity to let the guide know of any questions or concerns you may have.

No snowshoeing or winter camping experience is necessary. Guests will be snowshoeing and camping each day, so any athletic experience will be an asset. Bring your clothing, winter coat/pants, water bottle and we will take care of the rest! Click here for more about commonly asked questions.

Absolute serenity. Listening to the wind blow through the snow on the frozen lakes and trees with nothing else in the background. Following little foot prints from local animals you wouldn’t normally get to see in other seasons. This is what camping in the winter is all about.

Our 3 Day Winter Adventure will take you on a journey of soul searching and self-discovery through the Algonquin backcountry. While on trail, our experienced guides will lead you and your group through portages, rivers, lakes and ponds to get to our destination. You will be impressed by our “Hot-Tents”, which include a wood burning fireplace inside to keep us warm and cozy.

Once at the site, the guide will instruct you on setting up a proper winter camp, while our full-time chef will prepare tasty feast for the group to enjoy.

Our guides will contact guests via email prior to the start of the trip. This is the perfect opportunity to let the guide know of any questions or concerns a guest may have.

No canoe or camping experience required for this trip. Bring your clothing, rain jacket/pants, water bottle and we will take care of the rest! Click here for more about commonly asked questions.
